AMERICAN HERITAGE 40-YEAR CUMULATIVE INDEX (1954 – 1994). Covers 256 issues of American Heritage.

BIOGRAPHY INDEX (1946 – present). Subject/person index with a professions and an occupations index is included.

HUMANITIES INDEX (1974 – present). Lists articles on the humanities, including the American history.

NEW YORK STATE HISTORY INDEX (1966 – 1995). Author and title index to the New York State History journal.

NEW YORK TIMES INDEX (1851 – present). Annual and monthly access to the contents of the New York Times.

READER’S GUIDE TO PERIODICAL LITERATURE (1890 – present). Indexes periodicals; includes a subject and author index.

HARPWEEK Provides indexes and reproduces pages of Harper’s Weekly from the Civil War Era, 1857 – 1865.

AMERICAN HERITAGE (1949 – present). Features articles on all aspects of American life.

AMERICAN HISTORICAL REVIEW (1896 – present). The official journal of the American Historical Association.

HERITAGE (1984, 1987 – 1988, 1992 – present). Journal of the New York State Historical Association.

JOURNAL OF AMERICAN HISTORY (1972 – 2002). Published by the Organization of American Historians; provides reviews of books, films, and exhibitions, as well as scholarly articles and historiographic essays.

NEW YORK HISTORY (1921, 1933 – present). Publication that usually features 3 scholarly articles on local history.

PROLOGUE: JOURNAL OF THE NATIONAL ARCHIVES (1974 – present). Journal that utilizes the materials in the National Archives as the source for their articles.

American National Biography. Ref.E176 .A68 (24 Vols.). A biographical dictionary that profiles historical figures.

The American West: A Multicultural Encyclopedia. Ref.F592 .U96 1995 (10 Vols.). The A-Z format designed to introduce the varied and diverse peoples who made up the West.

A Companion to American Thought. Ref.E169.1 .C685 1995. This volume presents 363 subject essays and 316 short entries on leading figures in American thought, all linked through cross references and a detailed subject index.

Chronology of the United States. Ref.E174.5 .C63 1997. A chronology of American history.

Dictionary of American History. Ref.E174.D52 2003 (10 Vols.). Over 4,400 articles, with 1,500 illustrations and 300 maps which convey the nations past.

Documents of American History. Ref.E173 .C66 1968. Presents copies of documents important to U.S. history.

Encyclopedia Latina. Ref.E 184.S75E587 2005. Explores the many roles Latinos have played in the U.S. and their impact on American history, culture, and society.

Encyclopedia of African-American Culture and History. Ref.E185.E54 2005 (6 Vols.). 1,300 essays related to African American history.

Encyclopedia of American Social History. Ref.HN57 .E58 1993 (3 Vols.). Combines the scholarship of historians with work in ethnology, gender study, geography, literature, religion, anthropology, and sociology.

Reference Library of American Women. Ref. CT3260 .R44 1999 (4 Vols.). Features biographies of notable American women.

The Scribner Encyclopedia of American Lives. Ref. CT100 .S37 (6 Vols.). Features biographies of notable Americans.
