Herkimer Softball

Program History

Herkimer's softball program has compiled an impressive 282-1132 record since the 1991 season, including two Region III championships (1996 & 1998) and two Region III runner-up finishes (1997 & 1999). Former head coach Chuck Sosnowski was the catalyst for the softball program, compiling a 107-34 record during his four seasons (1991, 1996-98).  Sosnowski, the 1996 Region III Coach of the Year, led the Lady Generals to the NJCAA National Tournament twice (1996 & 1998) and guided the team to a school record of 41 victories during the 1998 season.

Marla Stagliano took over the team in 1999 and led the team to a 27-11 record and their fifth consecutive Mountain Valley Conference championship.  The Lady Generals returned to prominence in 2004, under the leadership of Amy Brelinsky who took over the program in 2003. The 2004 team earned a national ranking of eighth, late in the season, finishing with a record of 24-5 and earning a share of the Mountain Valley Conference title.

The softball program has produced several outstanding players throughout the years, including; Jessica Seamon, Christy Cushman, Jill DeCoursey, Tonya Smith, Kelli Winnie, Melissa DeCoursey, Michelle DeCoursey, 2002 All-American Arity Buckley, Lauren Clark, and 2004 All-American Amie Chase.
