Champions: a Campaign for Wehrum Stadium

  • 8 National Championships
  • 21 Consecutive Region III Titles
  • Undefeated in Region III since 1984

Herkimer County Community College Lacrosse has long been established as a program of Champions. It is our belief that a program of this caliber deserves the support and resources that rival its championship reputation. Equally, it seems fitting to honor the individual who for the last 25 years has been responsible for much of this success.

Champions: A Campaign for Wehrum Stadium has been created to name our new stadium for former men’s lacrosse coach Paul Wehrum, and establish an endowment for the HCCC Lacrosse program. In addition to recognizing the exemplary career of Coach Paul Wehrum, the funds raised will help supplement rising team expenses for uniforms, equipment and travel, among other operational expenses.

The success of our campaign will depend on the many people who have shared in the success of HCCC Lacrosse and whose lives have been forever touched by Coach Wehrum. Since Paul’s arrival at HCCC in 1980 he has not only been a successful coach, but a mentor and friend to over 1,500 athletes who have come through his program – always believing in their potential, challenging them to be their best and helping mold them into who they are today. While everyone shares the love for the sport of lacrosse, Paul Wehrum’s dedication to educating players and developing a strong academic background is the hallmark of his tenure at HCCC.

Every year, Coach Wehrum turns players into more than teams, they become family. With the help of Paul Wehrum’s extended lacrosse family, we will not only put his name in a place of honor, but establish this endowment. Wehrum Stadium will forever pay tribute to Paul’s legacy and it will recall the many tales of Champions– on and off the field.
