Additional Loan Eligibility
The federal government recently increased the Unsubsidized Stafford loan limits by $2,000 for all undergraduate students. This increase will not be added to your 2008-2009 financial aid awards, unless you complete the attached Student Loan Request Form, and return it to the Financial Aid Office.
- Dependent undergraduate students now qualify for an additional unsubsidized loan up to $2,000.
- Independent undergraduate students and dependent students whose parents are unable to borrow a PLUS loan now qualify for an additional unsubsidized loan up to $6000.
- The aggregate unsubsidized loan amount for undergraduate dependent students has been increased to $31,000 (less what has been borrowed in subsidized loans.)
- The aggregate unsubsidized loan amount for undergraduate independent students has been increased to $57,500 (less what has been borrowed in subsidized loans.)
- Loan Application
**Note: Student's can only borrow financial aid up to their Cost of Attendance.
FAFSA 2008-2009
It's time again! A letter was mailed to returning students, reminding them to renew their FAFSA application for 2008-2009. Students will need their Federal Student Aid PIN to access their 2008-2009 FAFSA on the Web Application. Most of the application data from the previous year will be pre-populated from last year's application.
Five-Minute FAFSA Video
This quick video created by FASTWEB is a fun and entertaining introduction to completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). http://www.finaid.org/fafsa/video.phtml
Filing is as easy as 1-2-3
- If the student or custodial parent (if applicable) have lost or forgotten their Federal Student Aid PIN, you may request a duplicate at: www.pin.ed.gov
- Complete 2007 tax returns for both the student and the custodial parent(s).
- File your FAFSA online at: www.fafsa.ed.gov
FAFSA4caster
The FAFSA4caster is for prospective students who want to plan ahead for college and determine an early estimate for federal student aid. When students are ready to apply for financial aid, they can easily transition the information on their FAFSA4caster to their actual FAFSA on the Web application. (www.fafsa4caster.ed.gov)
Repeated Classes
Are you taking a class at HCCC that you previously completed? This may affect your current financial aid awards! Repeating a course which a student previously passed (D- or higher grade) may affect a student's eligibility for financial aid. For financial aid purposes, if a student repeats a course that was previously passed, that course cannot be included as part of the student's enrollment status.
